The passage of the half-cent sales tax in Shawnee County generates incentive funding specific for economic development. The community can focus financial resources on projects that have a substantial impact on the economy.
There are a variety of performance-based local incentives available depending on the type of business and the project specifics. These are offered to Primary Employers located in the Topeka or Shawnee County area.

Land owned by GO Topeka may be given or sold depending on the project. Funds may also be provided to purchase property at other locations.
Net new full-time jobs created in Shawnee County qualify for an incentive based on the annual salary assigned for each position meeting the minimum yearly threshold. All job creation funds will be paid out over a 5-year period as earned. Only positions meeting the set threshold will receive incentive funding.
Incentive funding is available for the training of net new full-time positions created in Shawnee County. Funds can be utilized for classes or internal materials.
Reimbursement for all application fees submitted for incentive programs through the state of Kansas.
