4 Ways Smaller Cities Can Hold Onto Their Early Talent
Topeka, Kansas, has turned to technology to connect local businesses to local colleges and local students. The Greater Topeka Partnership is leading a collaborative “hire local” campaign to encourage local employers to strongly consider hiring graduates of Washburn University and Washburn Tech, two public institutions located in the city.
The partnership is urging Topeka businesses to create free accounts on Handshake’s online career platform to increase their visibility and allow them to more easily search for and recruit local talent. Washburn’s Career Engagement Office is offering to support local businesses on crafting eye-catching job postings and staying informed about career fairs and other recruitment events. When colleges and companies collaborate, they can open up many more opportunities for early talent.
